The high-current electromagnetic relay is a critical control element in heavy-duty circuits handling significant current loads, such as work light systems or fuel pump assemblies, bridging low-current control signals with main power supply. Inside a sealed metallic housing resides a coil that, when energized, mechanically closes contacts manufactured from silver alloy and cadmium oxide, formulated to resist arcing discharge. The dominant wear mechanism is contact erosion caused by repetitive inrush currents and electric arcing, leading to contact welding or elevated resistance that prevents activation of essential machine systems. Scheduled replacement of this component, with a service life of 5–7 years, costs substantially less than the consequences of sudden failure, which can completely immobilize an excavator or compromise operator safety during night operations. The relay employs Deutsch DT connectors and purpose-designed mounting, ensuring reliable performance under severe vibrational conditions while eliminating contact corrosion risk and power loss.
